Subject: Another thing about this gig..
Candace Brightman and Morpheus Lite's did "conceptual-videoes" to each song "Live" ( I guess they had privy to the set list) it was never done again as far as I know at a PLQ gig

Quite possibly the best experience I have ever felt of the dozen or so times i've seen Phil's band. Maybe any band. Best New Years Ever for me hands down. The Energy is pure And it shows in these tapes. Truly Awesome. I'd highly Reccommend this 5 hours of music to anyone. I cannot begin to convey how great this show was for me.......check it out

Wow that show kicked some serious ass, remember, wasnt that the night that the other ones played across town.Yeah we saw the "boys" at the Mariot. We however had a date with Phil. That show was a rock marathon. It was also my first date with the P.L.Q. and of course I was in Awe.Yeah Warren did some soulfull singing that night and I was privy to a Govt Mule pic at the end of the show. However the fireworks display was really close to me and scared the shit out of me. ViVa PLQ

Subject: THE Best New Years I ever Saw!!!!!
Subject: THE Best New Years I ever Saw!!!!!
Set 1- Phil & Friends
Uncle JohnÃÂs to open the show, a snappy rendition and quite long with the Jam that followed. Brown Eyed Woman was next Grate to hear it but I think this will be much better coming up later in the spring. A break then Sugaree still I felt the band was warming up, this was followed up with the best Mirror of Thalassa IÃÂve seen yet. Mirror flowed into a sweet jam and then the BoyÃÂs broke into some serious business with the Low Spark. Just then I get a pinch on the ass, I look at the wife, and she winks at me knowing IÃÂm a Happy Camper now! Nearly stopping but not quite they rip into a fine rendition of Bertha and the place is finally swingin!!!
Set 2
Passenger starts up the second set with the same rockinÃÂ quality of were they left off. Next up a fingery Crazy Finger tease, which was no let down since they broke into a KILLER Shakedown, glancing around all you could see were Giant smiles and swaying bodies. There are a lot of balloons being bounced around already and as IÃÂm thinking about a chilly N2O, One of the big ones bounces off of my MicsÃÂ.OppsÃÂOh well, what do you expect at NYE? A short but hot little Jam leads us into DoinÃÂ That Rag, standard vocal treatment leads into a syrupy sweet jam. In to the Mystic up next and how sweet it is! WarrenÃÂs voice on this tune is the stuff Goose Pimples are made of. Already this set had the making of one that was really special but when they broke into the Unbroken Chain, Lord have Mercy, the jamming between warren & Jimmy is simply breathtaking, & Rob's keyboard work is beautiful. Still goingÃÂ..Midnight Hour/ The Eleven / Midnight Hour?.OFF THE HOOK!!!!!!! It would be foolish of me to even try to describe it, it just something you have to hear!!! With that wrapped up, It was a "WeÃÂll be right back" and the party favors started, Blowing, Waving, Flowing, & Smoking??
MIDNIGHT MADNESS
ÃÂÃÂ...The lights go down the crowd begins to roar. Candice fires up a 4-min video retrospective to the music of Gustav Holst. From "The Planets-Mars, the Bringer of War". There is a smoke blowing out from the stage, people going nuts & then Big Daddy Phil starts off the countdown, 10, 9, 8,ÃÂ...2, 1. BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, Explosions, fireworks, sparklers, confetti bombs & the 6-bag balloon drop!!!!!!!!! I look at my wife trying to get a New Years Smooch & have to grab her to get it. SheÃÂs mesmerized, never imagining it could be so cool, all my talk just doesnÃÂt do your first NYE with the Dead justice (I say this for lack of a better way to put it Warren says Happy New Year & the crew busts out the Golden Road for the Midnight Tune. Hot! The crowd is going nuts it looks like the Ping-Pong balls in the lottery machine, the people & the balloons! Extending the jam about 2min (which is really nice), they fire into a 36:00 min, Ripping version of Viola Lee/GDTRFB/Viola Lee..What a combination! To all the naysayers out there, this band is Way innovative, and constantly surprises me with new combos, melodies, and arrangements! Thing needed to slow down a little and did with a soulful Tastes like Wine, but not for long. Ladies and Gentlemen please buckle up for the cosmic part of our tripÃÂ.Jamming out of Wine and onto the Mountains of the Moon, Phil is taking us for a heady ride. With a trippy Jam coming off the Moon we got Shot into the Dark Star! So Sweet! MoloÃÂs drums are a jazzy meteor shower dusting the musical landscape Phil creates. The guitars are weaving & Phil spins a snakelike backbone that weÃÂre all riding. (A little too trippy? IÃÂm listening to it as I type, and I donÃÂt think so. ) With the first word sung I well up with emotion, so beautiful??? With a really spacey Jam following all in attendance are WOWED, with the crazy I am the Walrus! In the new tradition of serious give and take between the band and audience, once again divisions melted away and we were one! Rob belting out the lyrics and the crowd filling in with the oooooÃÂs and other sound effects. Everyone was SO into it, kinda looked like someone was shaking the building and the people were standing still it, everyone was so in unison 8000+ bodies but one mind. From there scaling up & down and tapering off to a very cool jam, suddenly Mike Gordon runs out and plugs in. As with Drumzz/Space of days of old the rest of the band slides out till itÃÂs only Phil & Mike. Phil & Mikes Psychedelic Bass Clinic: The Philzone got Super Fat here with a mind expanding Dear Mr.Fantasy Instrumental, jamming in and around The Other One, and as before the band slides back in. Then giving a nod to Eleanor Rigby they rip back into Dark Star?. Help, mama IÃÂm faintingÃÂ.but NO weÃÂre gonna bounce you around a little more with a much improved I know you Rider! Faster tempo better harmonies well just Were Blistering actually!
To polish off the set Stella! Warren again giving out large helpings of gooseflesh during this one, with those Southern Boy raspy blues vocals of his. Holy Friholays Batman have you ever seen anything like it? The answer is no, unless you happen to catch a 5 hr acid test in 69ÃÂ.. IÃÂm completely blown away at this point and wonder if the rumors are true will there be a 4th set???? Phil says " Thank you very much & weÃÂll be right back"?????
Encores or Set 4 You Make the Call?..
Forest of Fennario a new Warren tune starts off the closing set and with some polishing this tune could turn out to be a real gem but tonight it was just a nice set-up for New Potato Caboose. Quite a quirky little tune for this point in the show but IÃÂll take it anywhere I can get it! Riding along we suddenly and out of nowhere are plunged head on into Just a Little Light, Rockin Good Time Baby! But for me the whole night came together with the Comes a Time. I was checking levels on my decks, crouched down, when suddenly before my brain knew what happened. My eyes were welling up with tears, once everything was clear & I was fully aware of what we were about to hear. I jumped to my feet & watched in amazement, as Phil, Jimmy, Rob, John, & Warren, bathed us in The Most Beautiful tribute to Jerry that has been played to date! As I watched tears occasionally wandered down my face, and when I looked over to my wife there was no giggling as she would normally do, only a look of understanding. These feeling were only heightened during the Bid you Goodnight.
We were all Totally Blown Away to put it mildly, Phil then stepped up and said, "It was a fabulous New Years Eve for me one of the best IÃÂve ever had." All Agreed!!!!!!!!

Thanks to my buddy Palumbo for the ticket!!!
Thanks to Delta airlines for the free ticket!!!!
Thanks to the blue dragon fly for the memories!!!
Well the Mule Started things out with a killer acoustic set! With Mike Gordon Playing bass and Warren belting out a heartfelt SOULSHINE for the recently then departed Allen Woody
SET I
Phil and the boys were ripping right from the start, My favorites being brown eyed, Warren's vocals on Sugaree are right on,Low Spark is always a favorite,The passenger is definately the highlight of the first set as it rips like a lightning bolt through the Kaiser perhaps even waking up the Other Ones who were playing right down the road!! It was nice to see Mike Gordon out in the audience grooving with us!!
SetII
THE SPACE SHIP HAS LANDED!!!!
This was a set for the ages
Shake down
Doin That rag
Unbroken chain New years countdown
Candices light and video show was superb as always. Then these boys just jammed so many killer tunes, they pretty much broke them all out!! Midnight hour, the 11 , Killer golden road, viola lee, after Jerry how can it get any better when Warren and jimmy are going off together!! The bass jam with Phil and Mike Gordon was a treat. I am the walrus, Fantasy, in and out of dark star, the show stealer was was Warren's singing on stella blue, just listen to the disc, it brought the house down. This dude truelly gets what the dead were about!!Then a four song encore including the first forest of fennario ,just a little light, comes a time, And we bid you good night, but it was not night time any more because it was almost four in the mourning!!!
And I'm spent, Record this show!!!!

Subject: AMAZING SHOW!
I won tickets a few days before of a local San Jose radio station called KFOX. My friend had just emailed me randomly seeing if i wanted to see Phil for NYE. Imagine my surprise when i had seen that email after already winning the tickets.
ON to the show! WOW! We got a great spot down on the floor close to the stage. Everyone was really stoked for the show and everyone was fairly kind, cept for that one chick with the bad B.O that kept elbowing everyone around her...
Anyway, i was coompletely blown away by this show. ALmost like 5 hrs of music goodness. Seeing Mike Gordon jam with Phil again was a real treat. I had first seen them jam together at a Phish show in `99 and that was amazing. This just took the cake! Every jam that night was just superb, they were all having a great time, and it provided me with some excellent memories.
I've been looking for this show for quite some time, and i'm surprised i never thought of looking here! Thanks for whoever posted this!!!! and thank you PHIL for the memories!
